An average SMART repair follows this process in order to complete the work…
- Cleaned – All grease, road dirt, etc. are removed from the area to be repaired to ensure the following stage can adequately bond to the area of repair.
- Preparation – Where needed, a filler will be applied to the area of repair to ensure all body lines are kept looking as they did when leaving the showroom.
- Primer – When the first two steps have been fully completed, an application of a fast-drying primer is added to the area of repair. This will ensure the paint has a good surface to adhere to, meaning that there is no chance of paint peel.
- Paint – After the primer has dried to a consistent state, the technician can then go-ahead and apply the paint. This is colour matched by a professional paint-shop to get an exact match to the existing paintwork on your vehicle.
- Lacquer – To give your new paint the shine that it would have shown previously, a coat of lacquer is applied over the top of your paint. This will help protect your paint from fading.
